Quechee Balloon Festival

Highlights:  Escape to wonderful Vermont and enjoy the fabulous Quechee Balloon Festival on this discovery tour of the Green Mountain State. On Day 1, we will travel to Quechee with a stop at the famous Quechee Gorge – one of the most photographed sites in the state, followed by a visit to the Simon Pearce Glass blowing facility. Simon Pearce began his first workshop in Kilkenny, Ireland and later moved to the picturesque mill town of Quechee. We will witness a glass-blowing demonstration followed by lunch at the exquisite Simon Pearce Restaurant, excelling in fine dining. Take a little time to shop in the boutique before we depart for our hotel. We will check into the Wyndham Days Inn in nearby Lebanon, NH our home for the next two nights. In the late afternoon we depart for the Balloon Festival. We will witness the first Balloon Ascension followed by free time for dinner from the many vendors at the Festival. Afterwards, experience the Moon Glow Balloon demonstration. On Day 2, for those who wish, an early rise is in order to go to the festival to see the Morning Ascension. We return to the hotel to join the rest of the group and depart for visits in the scenic Woodstock, VT area. Our first visit is to Farmhouse Pottery where you can shop and admire ‘timeless heirlooms’ of pottery, wooden bowls, specially-designed cutlery, candles and other gifts. Next, we take a ride to Sugarbush Farm for a tour and tasting of Vermont specialties. Sample maple syrup and cheeses and shop at their general store. Take some free time to enjoy lunch on your own in charming downtown Woodstock. We return to the Festival for a late afternoon of’Pups in the Air’ Balloons, skydiving demonstrations, activities, a late afternoon Ascension, dinner on your own and another Moon Glow Balloon extravaganza. On our last day for those who wish again, they can attend the early morning Ascension. Return to the hotel and after check-out and breakfast we travel to Bennington to visit the Chocolatorium. Learn about the history and culture of chocolate, with a demonstration and tasting. We follow our visit with lunch at the Mount Anthony Country Club, nestled in the heart of the Green Mountains and featuring classic New England fare. Our final stop will be the Apple Barn & Country Bake Shop. Browse through the large red barn packed with Vermont products and souvenirs before returning home.
