Highlights: If you are like me. you have read or heard of seeing African animals up close in their natural environment, Even the word “safari” conjures up a visual picture of Africa. Trip highlights We’ll fly into Venice, Italy, for an overnight stay. Our stay includes a city tour with the Doge’s Palace, Saint Mark’s Square and its famous Basilica. We’ll stay at a 4 Star hotel along a canal, dine in a local restaurant with wine. Our cruise ship departs for the port of Dubrovnik, Croatia where we tour the Adriatic fortress, visit a Botanical Garden and enjoy lunch at a local olive grove. Next stop is Kotor, Montenegro, one of the best preserved medieval towns in the Adriatic. We” tour the Old City, enjoy mountain vistas and sample local wines and cheeses. In Corfu, Greece, known as the “Emerald Island, we’ll tour the Achilleion Palace, which houses the Terrace of the Muses built by the Empress Elizabeth of Austria as a tribute to the nine muses of Greek mythology. Santorini’s spectacular caldera is a vestige of what was probably the biggest volcanic eruption in recorded history, believed by some to have caused the disappearance of Atlantis. Well also visit the charming village of Oia with its cliffside views. We’ll dock next at Piraeus, the main port of Athens. Here we’ll visit the Olympic Stadium, the new Acropolis Museum and the famous Parthenon ~ built as a temple to Athena.
